Description

This will likely require a case being opened with BigWorks/Docuvault.

There appears to be some contact information and the ability to create a case under the Salesforce Docuvault App.

We need one or both of:

1) Can we create a flow or automatic migration when a file arrives in SF storage it gets moved to docuvault -- this could be realtime or batch

2) Is there an API where we can upload and link files directly to docuvault and link them to a salesforce object=

2a) Can we just do this with salesforce and uploading to AWS, if so, how is there any documentation at all for moving beyond simple setup -- I seem to remember being assured there was an api, or at least a method to do this and I cannot find the info anywhere.

You are picking up a ball dropped by Renae during her departure over a year ago -- it is, however, importabt as I am going to be uploading another huge batch of files that will need to be send to Docuvault or migrated there in the very near future./

Updated by Kathy Zastoupil about 1 month ago

  • Status changed from Assigned to In Progress
  • % Done changed from 0 to 10

My initial investigation says yes to all 3 however

I am going to Ask BigWorks/Docuvault to 1. Be sure

and 2. To make sure I get the right API.

Yes a Flow can reconize when a content document (Salesforce File) is created.

Response from Docuvault:

- DocuVault doesn't directly have an API to upload files to s3. We can consider the following approaches for your use case:

Direct upload to AWS S3.
You can upload the documents directly to AWS S3, and create a Cloud File record in Salesforce. This approach removes file size limitations and is more scalable.
Salesforce REST API integration.
We can implement and expose a REST API endpoint from Salesforce, so you can send the file blob. The API will handle uploading the file to S3 and creating the Cloud File record. However, this approach has a file size limitation of approximately 3 MB.
Uploading as a Salesforce File.
You can upload files directly to Salesforce as a ContentDocument using standard Salesforce APIs. Since you have a custom Apex trigger that currently sends Adobe files to S3, we can amend it to include these Content Documents as well. However, this approach has a file size limitation of approximately 10 - 11 MB.
